So now the kids would just have to contend with their mummy double up as their 'teacher'...
I went over the first units for Primary 3 English, Mathematics and Science with Timothy over 4 1-hour sessions. It was always a buzz of discussions and distractions, especially with Tricia around, vying for mummy's attention. But we got things done as Timothy is surprisingly cooperative, and it's truly enjoyable for the whole family. Tricia is happy with her letterings, numbers, dot-to-dot, drawing and colouring.
It's quite a struggle being the kids' teacher ... now I know that it's not so simply to home-school your own children. I have to find the right balance in getting the concepts across to my son and there's always this lack of stimulation since it's one-to-one... it requires alot of creativity and a huge dose of patience. I want to make it fun for the kids and constantly worry that the session gets boring... so I try to keep it short or have breaks in between. You know any kid would rather be somewhere else than sit at the table going over books with you. They've just watched Akele and they enjoy spelling-bee, so I give a word or two to get them to spell. It's not easy managing their attention.
