Great Ocean Road

Last weekend was a long weekend with Friday being ANZAC Day. We set off to the Great Ocean Road.

The Great Ocean Road, the breathtaking coastline of southwest Victoria.

We had company on this trip; they are Isaac, Yoke Cheng and their son, Jacob. We met for MacDonald’s breakfast and set off towards the city, cross the West Gate Bridge and headed towards Geelong, where we had lunch and bought some BBQ food for our very first Aussie Barbie.

We arrived at Anglesea, where we are stayed for 2 nights at BIG4 Holiday Park. It was our first experience staying in a caravan park. We had a cabin to sleep in.

Jacob and Timothy in their Nintendo DS frenzy... that's Timothy's bed in his upper deck. Tricia didn't want to take the lower deck so papa was Timothy's roommate...and Tricia slept with mummy on the Queen bed which comes with electric blanket...Wah! So warm and comfy...

Next to us were caravans and tents. I wonder, I was just wondering, will I rough it out here in a caravan or a tent? There are very huge tents that look almost like a house and it shouldn’t be so bad sleeping in a well-covered sleeping bag. There’ve shared toilets and cooking area…Mmmm…Nah, I still want a bed, and the heater...+ my own toilet!

Taking a stroll along the Anglesea River.
This is a scenic lookout from Split Point Lighthouse.

The 3 kiddos skidded down the slope, watching the waves and the cliffs.

These kids are like buzzing bees, can hardly catch a picture of them. This was like 1 in a million chance they stopped to pose for a picture.

We reached Lorne and enjoyed our 2nd lunch... an award winning pie…and the kids had some exercise at this trampoline play area.

Who's that BIG guy laying down there? Shouldn't there be an age limit to kids' playarea? Well, not when you've to pay for it. Look at the little blue house behind Tim, the boss is in there with a loud hailer and is taking in $3 for 5 mins, $4 for 15 mins and $5 for 30 mins per trampoline... how much will be his takings in a day? There're 15 trampolines here.
Lorne is a buzzing town, many shops and eateries. We’ll visit Lorne again in July.

Along the winding road up towards Apollo Bay, we watched the huge waves and the cliffs from the car. It's a pity we didn't stop to snap some pictures. We just went on and on... Although cold, with light drizzle, there were VERY brave young people riding those waves on their surfboards.

It was raining when we reached Apollo Bay. The kids only got to touch the sand and we had to take shelter... their disappointment is soon forgotten once they had their yummy pizza and hot chocolate.

The drive along the Great Ocean Road is absolutely fantastic. Stunning views of the ocean from the dramatic cliffs.

This is how I would like to see the Great Ocean Road, a few days in each of these places, from Anglesea (Anglesea River; Paddle boats) to Lorne (Shops & Cafes; Playground) to Apollo Bay (Otway Fly Tree Top Walk; Triplet Falls) and last stop, Port Campbell (Twelve Apostles; London Bridge).
