Below is Timothy's account of his camp experience at the Narmbool Lodge in Ballarat from the 2nd September to 4th September 2009...
Activity Groups
Each person was put into an activity group, either the Echidnas or the Kangaroos. I was in the Echidnas. I was in the same group as Jamie and Mackenzie. The 2 groups were split into another 4 groups which were named Echidnas A and B and Kangaroos A and B.
The Big Walk
On day 2, we had to walk from Camp Narmbool to Tea Tree Bush Camp. It was a 6km walk! I was very tired and didn’t enjoy it that much.
Dinner duty
Each group had a certain meal to clean up and prepare. The task is to pour water into each cup and place the cutleries on the table. After dinner, we had to clean up.
Cabins and Room inspection
Our cabin were quite small but big enough to fit 2 bunk beds and 2 single beds. There’s a bathroom and a toilet. Jamie, Mackenzie, Allan, David, Christian and I shared the same cabin. The teachers would come in and inspect our cabin and rate it out of 10. We were told that a prize will be given to the group with the neatest cabin but the teachers didn’t. Cheaters.
Food/Meals
The food at the camp was good, except the breakfast. Breakfast was a dull cereal and toast meal. But the dinner was a treat. On the first night of the camp, we had spaghetti. On the second night of the camp, we had steak with baked potato and corn. That was great!
Mitcham’s Got Talent Show
The talent show was exciting and a lot of people entered the contest. My friends Jamie and Mackenzie did a really funny act where they pretended to be midgets using their hands, jumper and gloves.
Sovereign Hill
We went to Sovereign Hill. The best part was the lolly shop. I shared half of my pocket money with Jamie and we each bought a bag of boiled lollies.
Favourite part of the camp
I enjoyed the free time we had in the cabin. We clown around and had a lot of laughs.
Most unforgettable experience
One morning, a few of us had trouble waking Jamie. So we started tickling him. We tickled him till he peed in his pants. There was a wet patch there..and he hated us!
