Lakes Entrance

I've read so many books about families staying at a lakehouse. Summer holidays filled with relaxing days lounging with a book and a cuppa... So I've been dreaming to experience a lakehouse. Waking up in the morning to a picturesque lake view and spending lazy days watching people fishing and boating.

My dream came true.

We stayed at No.26 at Captain's Cove, in a town called Paynesville (the boating capital of Victoria) at Lakes Entrance.

We walked up and down this stretch of mini-jetties to visit Jacob and his family's unit at No.13. Ours is the one on the left.

If only we could zip off in this yatch beside us...belongs to our neighbour...we didnt see them set off though..they spent all day fishing. Even the kids caught fish for dinner. We should try that when we visit Captian's Cove again.

We sat at this spot as often as we could during the 3 days' stay...chatting, watching people fish and here the kids giving bread to the ducks. Such a private and special place to have, just a few steps down from the verandah outside our unit.

Left: Looking left from our unit, I can see the quay that would lead the boat to the Lake King;
Middle: Mummy, Papa and Tricia on the verendah outside the unit.
Right: Kiddos and Mummy taking a stroll along the quay.

My 2 gorgeous kids. Posing for a shot outside the apartment.

Timothy feeding the black swan some of his breakfast.

This road trip top the list on distance for us. Papa drove about 250km towards the Gippsland, stopping at Traralgon for lunch. The rain followed us all the way and stopped only when we arrived at Paynesville. As usual, we were treated to lovely views of the farmland and plains dotted with cows and sheeps.

The kids having their sand play at the 90 Mile Beach. 5km of coastline, on the edge of a long slender sand dune. It's an endless stretch of beach on both ends, dotted with small groups of people enjoying the sea breeze.

The kids mugging around at the jetty after lunch at the restaurant behind them. Following their laughters are 2 black swans.

We visited the Buchan Caves (pronounce 'bark-ken'). We saw loads of limestone formations. Some of which looked sinisterly like some aliens or creatures. We walked through the Fairy Cave and the Royal Cave. The drive to Buchan Caves is the most unforgettable. The hills are just breathtaking, like those you see on Sound Of Music. Winding and narrow road, with no barrier to protect you from the cliff, so cant stop to take a walk...

Last stop at papa's university, Monash Uni (Gippsland Campus). Nostalgia for papa as we strolled around the West Wing of the house he lived in. In the background is the unit No.23 he lived in during his final year.

We are back from the holiday. The kids are having their 2-week term break. How time passed, we've lived here three-quarters of the year. Just one more school term and we'll be heading back home to S'pore.

I have enjoyed this entry very much. This is indeed a lovely place to spent a few days doing nothing, forgetting about the real world & just enjoy. The 2 kids, they have grown so much ;) I cannot wait for your return in Dec. Till than, keep us posted!
