MOOMBA WATERFEST 2008

We went to soak in the atmosphere at the Moomba Waterfest on Sunday. It's held once a year, this year, over the Labour Day long weekend.

The activities were held along the stretch of the Yarra River in the city of Melbourne. It's been an annual event for the last 50 years. We headed straight to the children's carnival.

Crazy Coasters here we come...

It took some time to persuade this boy to go on this ride in the Ferries Wheel.

We took a ride together in one carriage. Dear Timothy saying his 'last' prayer and goodbyes...hope it helped him to overcome his fear of height.

There were many rides but we took just one - the safest, most family-friendly one. And we didn't miss the fun, we just enjoy standing around watching people scream their lungs out.

Views from the Ferries Wheel: Heaps of people along the Yarra River. There was a water ski show, which we missed... got carried away playing the games.

Temptations, temptations, temptations that's put up in every stall...

Timothy hammering it down to get the frog onto the lilypad...

Papa giving it a shot here...aiming for a BIG toy, maybe a Homer... no luck here...

Tricia played a few games... the 'sure-win' something type of games. This is laughing clown, just dropped a ball into his mouth, wait for it to turn up in a tray with numbers and collect the prize that matches it.

Timothy dunking a basketball, $10 for 5 throws, very expensive 'throw'... and he played it twice.
Tricia's prize, Nemo, from a fishing game. She wanted a carebear, so papa tried his luck at BJ 21... but we ended up with a HUGE Kermit the frog and a shark.

Timothy's prize, a little dino that reminds him of a yu-gi-o game. It has 2 horns on its head and he wanted to call it 'horny'! No way!!! He's still asking us what's 'horny'? This little dino is Amber.

Very tired at the end of the day. We found a spot to sit and wait for the fireworks. Watching the Fireworks is the BEST way to end the day... wonder why the kids watch it with their fingers in their ears... they prefer silent fireworks...
