Our Pride and Joy

Before Tim started school, I was full of worries… will he like the school? His class? His classmates? Make friends? At 8½ years old, I felt as if he had already grown up…. But once again, I look at him and feel the familiar maternal instinct to protect him…especially since I had no idea how different school was like here.

Every week, a pupil from each class is nominated as the Student of the Week. These kids are presented with a certificate during assembly.

This is Tim's certificate. He has been recognized for his excellent creative writing and for being a very conscientious pupil. Timothy is very very very happy!!! ;)

I’m very thankful for the many many wonderful people he met - teachers, parents and kids. He has made lots of friends, a few very good ones whom he hangs out with at playtimes, playing cricket and football. He looks forward to going to school! He is coping well, in fact, better than in the past... He's working hard on his very first project, a Diorama, due next week, will share when it's ready.

As the saying goes, ‘Worry is like a rocking chair, it gets you nowhere’...but, parenting is never without worries... 'will timothy complete his project on time?' ???

For all the teachers out there, keep giving those certificates... it does wonders for the child and the parents :)
